Haven't had a chance to update for a while... I've been spending all my limited free time with Cassey for the last two weeks. Unfortunately, she left earlier today and is currently somewhere over the Pacific ocean, 7 hours away from home.
Speaking of returning home, my return date has also been set. Barring any last minute changes, my last day in the Manila office will be March 21. I'll either leave later that day or the following day.
Now for the updates. The last two weeks have been quite full, so I'm going to do this in note form. The timeline might seem a little funky as my sleeping schedule is on crack. Keep in mind I work the graveyard shift, so I either sleep go to sleep around 10 AM (after work) or around 4 PM (before work). I typically had 4-6 hours of sleep a night while Cassey was here.
Wednesday, 2/25: Woke up feeling crappy. Took Cassey out to Bonifacio High Street. Had dinner at TGIF and checked out the fountains at Market! Market! Went to work and started feeling worse and worse. By the end of the class, I could barely stand and needed to get home ASAP. Of course, the driver didn't show, so we had to flag down a cab. Getting home took an hour. I get home and go straight to bed.
Thursday, 2/26: I've never been more sick in my entire life. Had some stomach bug but no clue where I got it. I didn't eat anything "whacky". I spend literally 24 hours in bed and in the bathroom. I nearly went to the hospital.
Friday, 2/27: Finally feeling better, Cassey and I go to Intramuros, the old walled city of Manila. Pictures here. We take a guided tour in a horse-drawn carriage. Afterwards, we walked down Roxas Boulevard to Rizal Park, a park built on the site where the national hero of the Philippines, Jose Rizal, was executed in 1896. Rizal Park is also the site where the USA granted independance to the Philippines in 1946.
Saturday, 2/28: Cassey and I fly to Hong Kong to visit her uncle and aunt. They gave us a fabulous whirlwind tour across many breathtaking sites in just two days. Hong Kong is absolutely spectacular. We took over 500 pictures combined during the weekend. I'll give a full update with pictures later. Suffice it to say you must visit Hong Kong if you get the chance.
Tuesday, 3/3: I take Cassey to Greenhills where she spends a small fortune buying handmade pearl jewellery and plenty of knock-offs.
Wednesday, 3/4: In the afternoon, we lounge by the pool and enjoy appetizers and cold beer. Later in the evening, we go for dinner at Bubba Gump's and then go see "He's Just Not That Into You". Food was great (mmm shrimp!) but the movie was so-so.
Thursday, 3/5: We go to Greenhills once again where another small fortune is spent. We have dessert and drinks at Cafe Havana, a very popular Cuban-themed nightspot at Greenbelt. Cassey goes a midnight poolside massage before packing.
Friday, 3/6: I leave work early to take Cassey to the airport. Non-passengers are not allowed past the entrance, so we say our long goodbyes before she heads home. She's currently somewhere over the Pacific and should arrive in Montreal in ~7 hours.
I just returned from seeing Watchmen. So good! I'll definitely see it again. Now I'm getting ready for work. Final exams for Batch 2 of ADSL will be today. Hopefully, they'll do well! This weekend, I'll probably go see the new Street Fighter movie and then I might go for an overnight trip to Boracay.
